Two groups have independently identified mouse olfactory receptors from the mouse genome sequenced by Celera Genomics. The Olfactory Receptor Database, a repository of olfactory receptors sponsored by the NIDCD, has been assigned the task of analyzing these sequences and developing a consensus nomenclature that will assist in unifying the work of these groups.
We present below the results of the sequence analysis and a tentative nomenclature for the olfactory receptors.
