ORDB News and Updates
Hello ORDB User Group and ORDB Advisory CommitteeI am happy to report that we have made significant progress in populating ORDB. The database currently houses more than 7100 chemosensory receptor sequences (up from approximately 5000 in November 2003). This increase reflects recent developments in chemosensory receptor research, with the greatest increases being in taste receptors genes identified and reported. ORDB contains more than two thousand TPRs (Taste Papilla Receptors). We have recently added more than seventy five canine olfactory receptors that were mined from the canine genome. The citation to this work is: Tsviya Olender, Tania Fuchs, Chaim Linhart, Ron Shamir,Mark Adams, Francis Kalush, Miriam Khen and Doron Lancet, Genomics. In Press. (2003)
As promised, we have instituted new search programs within ORDB. Users can now
search on multiple receptor attributes (properties). Users can access the Search
page by
clicking the link "Search" on the panel on the left hand side of this page.
Alternatively, users may use the following link:
SEARCH
ORDB users will have noticed that the term "OR" in the database has been replaced with CR; and,
Olfactory Receptors has been replaced by Chemosensory Receptors.
These changes have been brought about
thanks to user-suggestions. The changes reflect the diversity of chemosensory
receptor gene sequences in ORDB.
As always, your continuing suggestions will significantly aid future improvements and development. Please visit the ORDB at http://senselab.med.yale.edu/senselab/ordb Thank You,
Chiquito Crasto, Ph.D.
