Detailed compartmental cable models of 8 hippocampal granule cells of adult mice were obtained from dual patch-clamp whole-cell recordings and subsequent 3D reconstructions. This code allows to reproduce figures 6-8 from the paper.

Installation instructions
=========================

1. Download and install NEURON
   The latest version can be found at
   http://www.neuron.yale.edu/neuron/install/install.html
2. Download and install gnuplot 4.2 (optional)
   http://www.gnuplot.info

Windows:
3. Unzip gc-1.1.zip into a folder
4. Compile the mod-files in this folder with mknrndll
   (Start/Programs/Neuron)
5. Double-click on gc.hoc

Unix or GNU/Linux:
3. Unzip / untar gc-1.1.zip or gc-1.1.tar.gz or gc-1.1.tar.bz2
   to a folder
4. Compile the mod-files in this folder using nrnivmodl. If it's 
   not in your path, you can typically find it in
   /usr/local/nrn/host_cpu/bin/nrnivmodl, where host_cpu is
   your processor type (such as i686). 
5. Start NEURON using
   ./host_cpu/special
6. At the oc> prompt, type
   xopen("gc.hoc")

MAC OS X:
3. Unzip gc-1.1.zip by double clicking on it.
4. Drag the gc-1.1 folder to the mknrndll icon in the NEURON
   application folder.
5. Drag the mosinit.hoc file in the gc-1.0 folder to the nrngui
   icon in the NEURON application folder.
